Grade 8 8 bolt properties

Tensile Strength (MPa) Class 8. Bearing values assume standard clearance holes. Bolt Loading Capacities. Grade Hot Dip Galvanized (ISO FIT) 10. We produce all our products using the best of raw materials and technology that ensure optimum quality. SAE J4bolts from Glaser and Associates meet the mechanical and material requirements for fasteners used in the automotive and related industries.

The property class is normally stamped on the head of the bolt. ASTM F568M is an ASTM International standard for metric bolts , screws and studs that are used in general engineering applications. It is titled: Standard Specification for Carbon and Alloy Steel Externally Threaded Metric Fasteners. It defines mechanical properties for fasteners that range from M1.

The two-digit nomenclature is. Usable thread length for Class 8. We stock a full line of metric 8. Mechanical properties of grade 4. It is the most common type of high tensile material and is usually stocked in plain finish or zinc. It can be plated in many other coatings. In addition to tensile strength, other mechanical factors in a connection should be considere including yield strength and proper assembly of the parts. Choose from our selection of grade bolts , including over 4products in a wide range of styles and sizes.

In stock and ready to ship. Component approach to joint design. The symbol for the property classes of hex bolts , screws and studs consists of two numbers separated by a decimal point. This grading system is used for nuts and bolts , not for steels. I have been studying steels for some time and I haven’t seen such grades being used to describe steels.

Hi, does anyone know what the typical uniaxial mechanical properties of these Metric grade bolts are. Higher strength nuts or nuts of equal strength may be a suitable substitute provided bolt standard allows. When marke the identification marking shall be the grade letter O, A or B. Properties shown are those of nonplated or noncoated coarse thread hex nuts. Mthrough M1nominal. These bolts use the same material as their common cousins (ASTM F568M for metric bolts ), but have a thicker and wider head to more effectively distribute the load.

This modified geometry is often referred to as heavy hex geometry. I thought all grade bolts were case hardened. If you are making grade strength nuts you should start off with a material that is already that strong as suggested or make them from scratch out of a material that can be heat treated to that strength.

If in doubt, ask a professional for assistance. The chart below summarizes some of the more common grades and classes available here at Fastener Mart. SAE steel bolts - grades ranging grade to 8.
